Upper Schwarz Appliance

The Schwarz Appliance is a removable appliance that can be used in children or adults to expand the upper or lower arches in order to make room for all the permanent teeth. The appliance has a midline screw which is adjusted very slowly to avoid any discomfort for the patient. Arch expansion in the upper arch results in the patient having a broader smile at the end of treatment. The clasps that hold the appliance in the mouth are also very comfortable.

Lower Schwarz Appliance

The Lower Schwarz appliance is a removable orthodontic appliance with a single expansion screw in the middle. The retention is by very comfortable clasps on the side teeth. The appliance is adjusted very slowly to avoid any discomfort for the patient. It can be used to expand the arches of children and adults. The objective is to expand the arches to make room for all the teeth and therefore prevent the extraction of any permanent teeth.
